knocked flat by chemotherapy…
Happily, the chemotherapy seems to be continuing to work. Unhappily, between the latest round of chemotherapy, and the hardships of my Michigan trip (cancer boy isn’t used to to the cold and snow anymore, and clearing out my storage unit, in spite of the army of friends helping was three days of pretty hard work in sub-zero temperatures), I got knocked totally flat to the point where I’ve been doing not a whole lot other than sleeping the last week.

Absolutely terrific pictures, Erick. I’m sorry I missed the celebration. Don’t sweat the extra sleep, just think of it as a lazy vacation on the installment plan.

So sorry Hugh and I could not be there Erick. The pictures make it clear that you had a fabulous birthday. My best wishes to your family, (particularly your mother Nora, Aunt Mary and Uncle Sam), Kay, and Paula. I would have loved to have seen you all.
Don’t fuss the sleep. Clearing out your Detroit storage areas would make a squad of strong 19 year olds exhausted. Sleep now and get your strenghth back. Just having all that junk gone should make you feel younger, stronger, and thinner (metaphorically speaking). We are all thinking about you and beaming you good wishes. Talk to you soon!

Eric I’m proud to say I have many books written by you and Kevin I discovered Rifts while I was staioned in VA. back in 88′ in a small book store looking for a new RPG to play I had played D&D since i was 10. My room mate and I were both players of RPG’s for many years and wanted something new. I remember holding that book in my hands and leafing through the pages, skimming what was within. My imagination realed and that night while i was reading the book my friends were rolling up their new chars. we were playing by 8 that evening and played for the next 2 days non stop. My God we had some fun. And now here I am with a book shelf full of books and many adventures later all because of you.. I have to say I am honored to have gotten to know you through the game. I never got the chance to meet you personally, but I feel like I know you so well. I am praying that you pull through this and hope that one day I would be able to meet you and Kevin both one day. You 2 have given us so many great memories.

I just wanted to say thanks for all the great games and memories
I grew up on D&D and we all played as many different games as we could get our hands on, we ran some really great “Road Hogs” Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games, Mad Max meets the Seven Samuria, heh,heh
it was great
I still remember the excitement I felt when Rifts first came out (I bought it at Mac’s Models in Edinburgh), it was something truly special
I loved the artwork, the whole concept, it was just brilliant
I lost touch with gaming for quite a few years along the way until I was reintroduced to role playing through a chance visit to
a games convention (Conpulsion in Edinburgh, UK)
Being honest, I never realised how truly great gaming is and what a sheer
outlet it is for everyone involved, I love it all
I am glad that the Chemotherapy is working, you are in my thoughts

Heya Eric,
Happy belated birthday! I’m a humble gamer & a big fan of your work. This is the first I’d heard that you were ill - I’m glad to hear you’re doing so much better. Some of my best memories (and those of my closest friends) are of playing TMNT, as well as picking up shiny new copies of this game called Rifts when it appeared at GenCon way back when. Thanks a ton for doing what you do, and continue to get and be well! Looking forward to hearing plenty more from you.

I know Erick hasn’t added anything recently. He has gone off Chemo and is resting more. The good news is that without the Chemo he has been able to read more. I am one of the few that had the opportunity to game with Erick for more than 20 years. No one can torture a Charactor like Erick. He will bring your charactor to the edge of breaking. Those experiences help to define your charactor and test your own limits as a player. There are games that I wish you had the opportunity to play that live in the memory of the few that had the opportunity to play them. Those unpublished games we enjoyed so much. Like Aliens Amung Us, The Amalgimated Republic and those we played in the car to GenCon. Erick has always had more plans than time. I wish we all had the chance to playtest with Erick but I’ll have to count myself as one of the lucky ones.
For those that want a chance to own some of that stuff from Erick’s storage units, keep an eye on Ebay. I will slowly be clearing out the units as Erick directed. It’s a shameless plug but he wanted his fans to have some of this stuff.
