excellent news on the cancer front
Monday, January 7th, 2008 was the date for my second “aggressive” chemotherapy session, and it started with great news.
First, it seems that the first session was a success. Epic news considering that the expected rate is something less than 20% effectiveness (and even less for the rare form of cancer they finally diagnosed from my biopsy).
Second, the blood tests indicate that my liver is back to operating within accepted norms. So:
BILIRUBIN, TOTAL: 0.8
Normal: 0.2-1.3 mg/dL
Collected: 1/7/2008 10:36 AM
Since the numbers were getting better even before the first chemotherapy, it seems that all the well wishes, positive thoughts, prayers and meditations of my loved ones must be having an even greater positive effect. Thank you all!

Helen here, Glad to hear the good news! Keep up the cellular healing, never one to rest on your laurels! Was great to see Louis’s photos, he is quite talented with the ‘ole camera and old Shanghai faces. It was lovely to see you and Kate and Sarah in photo form. Wish Australia was on your list but of course coming down under is ‘a little’ out of the way!!!

I hope all is well and I wanted to let you know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of both Brian Taves and myself. We are still greatly interested in accepting the video game related materials in your collection into the National Audio Visual Conservation Center and hope that we can get that moving quickly. I am still planning on being in the Bay Area during the week of March 3rd-10th and hope that we can touch base though I will understand if that’s not possible. Wishing you all the very best! Erick, It was a real pleasure getting to know you during our talks about expanding the video game collection here at the Library of Congress. I’m so sorry to hear about all that has happened, and thoughts and prayers are going out to you from here.
I know a little bit of what you are going through from my personal experince of sudden kidney failure last year. I was blessed with incredible support from my coworkers at the Library that kept up my morale in the hospital. And know that so many people out there who just know of you and your work, or just, like me, have met you over the telephone, are pulling for you at this time.
